Professional Bio
Scott Whittaker has been working as both a web and user interface designer since 1996.
Working with small businesses as well as larger corporations, he has earned a reputation as a professional who works effectively under pressure while providing a high level of creativity.
After working as an independent contractor and teaching web design at Mid Peninsula High School, Scott founded Version 4 Interactive, a design agency focused on delivering digital presences and designs for established businesses looking to leverage the web to expand their outreach and branding. The sites focused on creating a business presence that conveyed the personality and individual character of the business while also being aesthetically pleasing and user friendly.
In 1999, Scott joined RHI Consulting as a web designer. While there, he worked on a variety of client engagements including Yack.com, an online media guide. There, Scott served as a technical and user interface design consultant. Scott later joined Yack.com as a web and user interface designer, acting as the daily update production designer and special projects coordinator. This role further expanded Scott's abilities to work well under high pressure, time sensitive environments, and allowed him to leverage his experience in delivering an appropriate blend of aesthetic design and site effectiveness.
In 2000, Scott joined Terraspring, Inc. to lead the Design team for the firm's Web site which included information architecture coordination, content management, and interface design and development.
Scott also assisted with User Interface Design for the company's flagship web-based infrastructure management application. Beyond those primary roles, Scott worked on a project basis with the engineering group for initial product ideation, usability analysis and interaction design as well as user interface design, brand integration, and client side programming (in javaScript and dHTML) for many internal and external projects.
In August 2001, Scott left Terraspring to pursue several new business ventures including the formation of an independent interactive design agency, an ideation house, and the creation of a coffee aficionado website.
Scott has both experience in design and development, as well as a deep level of understanding in human computer interaction and usability. His professional background is focused on merging the needs of business goals, brand requirements and technical limitations and capabilities into an end product that delivers client and business value while offering an enjoyable user experience.
