Wilma is mean
Well, Wilma has quite litterally exploded.
She is now another Cat 5, with wind speeds of 175 mph, and a pressure of 884 mb. This is the lowest pressure of a tropical cyclone in the Atlantic Basin in history. The scary thing is, this could still grow… it is kind of a similar set up with the loop current as Katrina had, where it might wind up riding the loop all the way up to Florida. This isn’t likely, however if it does happen, it could bring a high Cat 4 or Cat 5 to landfall.
When I saw the projected wind speed on my storm tracking software, I had to go to NWS to double check because I thought there was a mistake.
One thing that is interesting though, is how compact the winds are on this thing.
