Wilma et al.
Well, either NWS hasn’t caught it yet (or they haven’t had time to announce it due to all the work tracking Wilma) but there is a nasty looking tropical wave hanging out near the Lesser Antilles that could wind up being a 1-2 punch, if it hits the same ultrawarm water that caused Wilma to blow-up.
Could be that we are already looking at the early stages of Tropical Storm Alpha. I have to admit, while I always am concerned for the folks in the Gulf and the Atlantic Tropical basin when one of these epic storms develops, I find myself as excited as I was when I first started watching landfalls in 1998 or so.
The first time going through the alphabet is no different. So while on one hand I hope Alpha doesn’t develop, there is a part of me that is excited about the prospect of seeing history made (especially three times in one month, with Wilma’s low pressure record and the First Tropical Storm to hit Spain).
Either way, I it doesn’t develop into another one of these block busters (if it develops at all).
Another few weeks, and at least theoretically, we are out of the shooting gallery for another long while (well, until June at least;) ).
